Earthworm farming, vermicomposting and 'regular' composting:
Generally speaking, earthworm farming is a widely used umbrella term that embodies both the professions of vermiculture and vermicomposting. Vermiculture, or the culture of earthworms, is the process of raising and breeding earthworms. This will be the case of a bait farmer where earthworms are raised as fish food. Vermicomposting, as appose to 'regular' composting, is the decomposition of organic waste through the joint efforts of both earthworms and beneficial bacteria and micro-organisms. The aim of vermicomposting is to harvest the earthworm castings which is a very good quality compost and plant fertilizer. It goes without saying that vermiculture and vermicomposting goes hand in hand.
